The King's Speech

I just saw the blu-ray of The King's Speech last night. I wanted to see it because it won Best Picture this year. GREAT MOVIE, get the Blu-ray or DVD. If you are in or have been in radio, or you speak professionally or better yet have a problem speaking publicly, this was an interesting movie to watch.

I have worked in radio for years training others to improve their speaking voice and have used some of these techniques. My favorite part of the movie though is where the voice coach, unknown to the King & Queen, had no official credentials. He had helped soldiers who had come back from war who lost their voice due to shell-shock and vocal damage. He helped these guys get their voice back and got results! Lionel Logue, the vocal coach presented himself as one who is the best and convinced the King and Queen. He gave the King his Voice!
