Whitney Houston!!! The Gifted!
Whitney, was a beautiful and very gifted singer who like many stars was being pulled in good and bad directions. She made some very good career decisions while many of us would not agree with some very serious and public, personal life decisions. What happened? What caused her death? If its part of the same narrative many of us are probably assuming, I don't think I want to know!

A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
A man or a woman's talent is definitely from God and Whitney knew at a young age what her gift was and it made room for her. It put her in front of very great people and powerful people that could change her life and it did. The sad part of Whitney Houston is that her gift had so much more in store including acting. Though she has been buried, she didn't bury her gift in the earth.
Where is your gift? Do you even know what it is? Has it made room for you? Has it brought you before great men? If you don't know the answers to these questions, this is actually a whole lot sadder than Whitney's story. At least she lived in her gift and didn't bury it!

Nothing Has Changed!!!
I am not sure people would feel this compassionate about Windows 7 or Zune or Droids or Galaxy Tabs and the founders or CEOs of their respective companies if they had passed away this week. We might talk about how rich Bill Gates was but not necessarily miss him or feel passionately about him or his product as we do for Steve Jobs.
He has left a giant footprint not just a fingerprint!

4th of July 2011
At 235 years old, our nation the United States of America has seen its peaks and valleys, victories and its defeats. These recent years though have been the most challenging, causing the very foundation of who we are as a nation be shaken and questioned. Is America turning Socialist, Marxist or away from its guiding constitution?
When you write a business plan, you write it so that you put to paper a vision of what you want your business to look like in the future. If you later add partners, you don’t want someone else to come in and change the business into something it was never intended to be.
The US Declaration of Independence was signed or drafted or adopted on July 4th 1776. It is a major part of the business plan written for our country to stand the test of time so that its citizens can continually and confidently refer to it. The most famous line of all is of course this one,
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
For this to be true, you have to believe that mankind was Created by a Creator. If you don’t believe this, than then the Declaration of Independence becomes just great poetry! This is one of the reasons we have a great country and will remain Great! Now what we have once believed and held true is increasingly being challenged by old philosophies that never worked anywhere else in the world.
These unalienable Rights are still true but old philosophies that attempt to challenge these God given rights should be challenged! This year more than any other year, Celebrate & have a new appreciation for our country and its independence. It is a Great Country and we can celebrate Life, Liberty & the pursuit of Happiness in the USA! Happy Independence Day!

The King's Speech

I just saw the blu-ray of The King's Speech last night. I wanted to see it because it won Best Picture this year. GREAT MOVIE, get the Blu-ray or DVD. If you are in or have been in radio, or you speak professionally or better yet have a problem speaking publicly, this was an interesting movie to watch.
I have worked in radio for years training others to improve their speaking voice and have used some of these techniques. My favorite part of the movie though is where the voice coach, unknown to the King & Queen, had no official credentials. He had helped soldiers who had come back from war who lost their voice due to shell-shock and vocal damage. He helped these guys get their voice back and got results! Lionel Logue, the vocal coach presented himself as one who is the best and convinced the King and Queen. He gave the King his Voice!
